stay hard, stay hungry
Pain, Suffering and Dust.
(2002-07-01 - 5:57 p.m.)

Have you ever noticed how pain and joy always seem to be so closely intertwined? How can something be the best thing that has ever happened to you, but still seem so painful at times.

People say to me that nothing worth having ever comes easily, and I tend to agree, but why? I guess we wouldn't apprectiate whatever it was as much if we hadn't had to work to find it, or keep it.

I also read that once we as humans have learned to completely accept suffering as a natural part of life and growth, then we'll live a much richer, happier life, because it won't seem so much like suffering anymore.

In some ways that seems like a wise thing to say. And in other ways, crazy. Why is suffering necessary? Huh?

* * * * *

We have these dust coats at work, so that when you have to go into the workshop your suit doesn't get dirty. And these things are amazing. Because you can get covered in dust, and then when you go back into the office, all the dust seems to have disappeared from the coat. What's up with that? Does the coat have amazing dust-absorbing technology? And if it does, where does it put all the dust? Surely it has to go somewhere?! Where dagnabbit?

And have you ever wondered where birds go to die? You don't see dead birds falling out of the sky, do you? I never have. So where the hell do they go?
